Youth Bank 7: nearly 100,000 young customers is no coincidence

15. september 2025LHV

LHV Youth Bank celebrates its seventh anniversary this autumn. During this time, nearly 100,000 customers have joined Youth Bank, half of whom are up to 17 years old and the other half aged 18–25. We know that young people value convenient digital solutions, well-thought-out benefits, and the bank’s clear focus on the needs of their generation.

Value-based choices

The development story of Youth Bank has been a constant search for balance between simplicity and value. In 2023, we switched to a bank card made of recycled plastic and a minimalist design. This meant giving up the previous neon pink colour, but the gain was greater, as the LHV Youth Card, with its modern design, is now made from more environmentally friendly materials.

We have also maintained a consistent approach in choosing partners – quality matters more than quantity. The Youth Card discounts are selected so that they truly benefit young people and leave a lasting impression. In addition to long-time partners like R-Kiosk, MyFitness, and Sportland, VLND Burger, Snabb, Bolt, and Bolt Food have also joined. It has also become a tradition to celebrate the Youth Bank’s birthday in cooperation with VLND Burger, where we give out burgers to Youth Card holders.

Bank like a young person – on the phone and everything within reach

From day one, our goal has been to make all essential banking operations possible via phone. In 2024, we moved even closer to young people: we launched an account on TikTok and introduced the Savings Account – a convenient way to set money aside for fulfilling your dreams. That same summer, we began cooperating with Bolt and Bolt Food, as we saw the Youth Card being used very actively for their services.

Contribution to youth development

The story of Youth Bank does not end with a bank card and an app. We also support youth entrepreneurship, sports, and the development of investment habits.

We are partners with the Tartu student organisations’ cooperation network OLE ROHKEM., the TalTech Business Forum, the Youth Investment Camp, and the Ylisport event series created by the Estonian Academic Sports Federation. For nearly all our years of operation, we have also supported the international extreme sports festival Simple Session, the youth science competition Rakett69, and the Estonian Optimist Class Association in providing first safe sailing experiences.

Additionally, we visit schools across Estonia to share financial literacy upon request.

Also focused on students

During studies, larger expenses often need to be covered, which is why the LHV student loan has helped many finance tuition fees, living costs or study materials. We issue ISIC virtual cards for pupils and students, which provide access to international discounts. Additionally, with the future in mind, Youth Bank clients can sign a home loan agreement with a 0-euro contract fee and get home insurance with a 5% discount. This way, a student has everything they need at once – a student loan, discounts, and everyday banking services.

Plans for the future

Seven years ago, our goal was simple – to offer young people a bank that speaks their language and allows them to manage their finances independently. ‘Today, we have nearly 100,000 young people using our services, and this is just the beginning. Our vision is that in the next seven years, LHV Youth Bank will help even more young people take their first step toward financial literacy and independence – whether it is their first bank card, savings and investments, first home purchase or even entrepreneurship,’ says Robin Mihkelson, the Youth Segment Area Manager at LHV.
