How to use your LHV account data with AI tools?

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools have become everyday assistants for many people. They are used to search for information, create summaries, and analyse data. Now, LHV customers can also use AI tools to gain insights into their finances.

LHV’s new AI integration allows customers to connect their bank account to various AI tools and ask questions about their account balance, transactions, spending patterns or account statements. The connection is established with the customer’s consent and is just as secure as logging in to internet banking.

According to Mihkel Kasepuu, the Chief Technology Officer at LHV, banking is increasingly moving to where people make their everyday decisions.

‘More and more people are using AI tools for work, learning, and everyday decision-making. A customer’s financial data belongs to them. Customers should be able to decide how and in which tools they use it. LHV’s role is to ensure this can be done securely, transparently, and under their own control,’ Kasepuu said.

What is it?

LHV’s AI integration allows you to connect your bank account to AI tools such as Claude or Cursor. This means you can ask questions about your finances in natural language and receive answers based directly on your account data.

Is it secure?

Yes. The connection is established using Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or an ID card — the same authentication methods you use to access internet banking. Access is always granted by the customer and can be revoked at any time.

At the initial stage, the solution provides read-only access. Connected apps can read data but cannot make payments or change account settings.

What can you do with it?

For example, you can ask:

• How much did I spend on dining out last month?
• What were my largest recurring expenses?
• How much have I invested this year?
• Generate an account statement for the past three months.

AI can help you find information, create summaries, and identify patterns, but financial decisions are always made by the customer.

How do I connect my account?

1. Open an AI tool that supports MCP, such as Claude or Cursor
2. Add the LHV MCP server
3. Select ‘Connect LHV account’
4. Authenticate yourself using Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or an ID card
5. Give your consent to use your data
6. Start asking questions

The entire process takes just a few minutes, and you can manage or remove your connections at any time.

As AI-powered services are evolving rapidly, the solution is being released as a beta version. LHV welcomes active feedback from users to develop the service together with customers and shape it into a solution that best meets their needs.
