What is staking?
Your crypto can do more than wait.
Earn staking rewards on Ethereum and Solana without leaving LHV. Buy, sell, hold and now earn from your crypto, all from the account you already use. No extra apps, no new logins and no additional providers to manage. Staking is powered by our trusted partners, Coinbase and Bitstamp, while you stay in control through LHV.
Good to know before you start
Staking comes with risks. Your crypto may be locked for days, weeks or longer, and its value can go up or down during that time. Staking also carries network-related risks, such as slashing: the network may deduct a portion of the staked crypto if the party performing the staking doesn't meet network requirements. Crypto-assets are not covered by the Guarantee Fund investor protection scheme.

| ETH | SOL | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual earn rate | ~1–4% | ~3–7% |
| Minimum stake | 0.1 ETH | 1 SOL |
| Warm-up period Rewards don’t start accruing immediately. The wait depends on the network. For Ethereum, the warm-up period can last several weeks. During that time, your coins remain locked. | A few weeks | A few days |
| Reward payout | Monthly | Every 2–3 days |
| Paid out in | ETH | SOL |
| Auto-staking Rewards are automatically added to your stake to earn on them as well. | No | Yes |
| Unstaking period Time until you can access your crypto after unstaking. During this, your coins are locked and don't earn rewards. | ~11 days | ~3 days |
Staking is suitable if you plan to hold your crypto long term. After you stake, your crypto is locked and you can’t sell it. Staking is not suitable if you need quick access to your funds.
Staking involves risk and rewards are not guaranteed.
- Your crypto is locked while staked and during unstaking, so it may not be immediately accessible.
- Prices can rise or fall while your assets are locked.
- Rewards can rise or fall depending on network activity and validator performance.
- A small portion of your staked assets may be lost (“slashed”) if network rules are violated.
- Staking depends on external providers and network conditions — delays can occur.
Your crypto stays visible in your account while staked, but it can’t be traded or withdrawn until it’s unstaked.
No. You stake once, and rewards are calculated and credited automatically from then on. You don’t need to manage validators, nodes, or any technical setup — that’s handled by our providers. You can unstake at any time.
Rewards are variable, not guaranteed. Actual returns depend on network activity, the total amount staked across the network, and validator performance — so they can differ from the estimated rate shown before you stake.
In Estonia, staking rewards are taxable income. Under the ordinary tax system, each reward is taxed when received. With an investment account, tax is due when withdrawals exceed contributions.
You can’t change the tax system for crypto you already declared. You can choose another for new purchases. Learn more
High network demand can affect activation timing, unstaking duration, and when rewards are paid out. This varies by network and provider.
Staking is handled entirely by our trusted providers — Bitstamp for ETH, Coinbase for SOL. Any fees are already factored into the reward rate shown before you stake, so there are no surprises.
Your ETH goes through a network activation (warm-up) period before it starts earning. Timing depends on network demand — if your stake isn’t active before the next payout date, your first reward is simply included in the following cycle.
Rewards accrue continuously but are paid out monthly, in ETH. They are not automatically restaked — only your actively staked ETH earns future rewards. Rewards you’ve received sit in your account as available ETH unless you choose to stake them again.
Your ETH enters Ethereum’s network exit process. It stays locked and stops earning during this time. Once complete — which can take several days or longer, depending on network conditions — your ETH becomes available again.
Yes — 0.1 ETH.
Bitstamp.
Rewards start accruing shortly after staking, typically calculated every few days in line with Solana’s network cycles (epochs).
Rewards are paid in SOL and are automatically restaked — they’re added directly to your staked balance and continue earning, so your position compounds over time without any action from you.
Your SOL enters Solana’s deactivation process. It stays locked and stops earning during this time. This usually completes within a few days, after which your SOL becomes available again.
Yes — 1 SOL.
