Registration for the investment game with the longest history in Estonia has started

06.02.2026

Registration has opened today for LHV’s investment game, Stock Shark, which is being held for the 24th time. Over the years, nearly 100,000 players have participated in Stock Shark, making it the most popular investment game in Estonia’s history.

According to Nelli Janson, Head of Investor Community at LHV, Stock Shark has served as a launchpad into the fascinating world of investing for many of today’s investors. ‘The very first Stock Shark took place in 2001, at a time when the concept of financial literacy had not yet become widespread in society. Many former participants have since become accomplished investors who are now passing on financial literacy to their own children. As a result, Stock Shark has had a cross-generational impact on the development of Estonia’s investor community,’ Janson said.

In recent years, other companies have also begun organising their own investment games. According to Janson, the popularity of such games reflects the desire of people in Estonia to expand their financial knowledge and acquire new skills – something that can only be welcomed. ‘In the end, what matters is that people in Estonia think about their long-term financial security, and in the long run, investing is the only way to grow one’s money,’ she stated. Stock Shark offers a playful and safe opportunity to gain valuable experience using virtual funds before making one’s first real transactions, while also providing excitement for already experienced investors. ‘Stock Shark is designed for everyone interested in market developments and wants to develop or put their skills to the test, regardless of age or investing experience,’ Janson explained.

Stock Shark evolves alongside the surrounding environment. This year, for the first time, participants can trade not only stocks but also the 100 most actively traded crypto assets. According to Janson, adding crypto assets to the game was a logical step, as interest in digital currencies is growing at a rapid pace. ‘Stock Shark is the first investment game in Estonia to offer the possibility to trade crypto assets. This is a sign of a new era, in which LHV is leaving its mark,’ Janson noted.

This year also brings a new game environment. The internationally recognised StockTrak has been brought in as a partner; it works with more than 1,000 universities around the world, as well as hundreds of companies. ‘We want to provide Stock Shark players with the highest possible quality experience, and we believe this solution enables us to offer both new and experienced Stock Shark fans an engaging and seamless experience,’ Janson explained. She added that this year’s Stock Shark offers significantly more opportunities than before to test different investment strategies. ‘I strongly recommend exploring them in order to get the most out of the discovery experience,’ Janson said.

At the start of the game on 17 February, each player will receive 25,000 US dollars in virtual money, and the winner will be the player whose portfolio has the highest market value on 17 April 2026 at 23:00. The grand prize of Stock Shark is 5,000 euros, and additional prizes for winners have been provided by Arvutitark, Miterassa, Bolt, Fotoluks, C&C, and Apollo.
