Named the best bank in Estonia for the seventh time, LHV received recognition from an international leading business magazine for its financial results, technological innovations, and the steady growth of its customer base.
LHV being named Estonia’s best bank is, according to LHV Pank’s Chairman of the Management Board Erki Kilu, certainly a significant recognition, but the company’s ambition extends beyond the domestic market. To support growth, the plan is also to expand into other European countries, the prerequisite for which is the scalability of products and technology. To accelerate product development and bring products to customers more quickly, LHV recently moved all of the bank’s core systems to the cloud and is implementing product-based management. ‘To make the next leap in development, our scaling capability must be on the same level as European leading new banks and financial technology companies. We must build our products, processes, technology, and organisation with a significantly more international outlook than before,’ Kilu emphasised.
LHV no longer competes solely with the major domestic banks, and the cross-border competitive landscape is changing rapidly. According to Kilu, knowledge of the client’s needs and expectations will become decisive in the formation of new power dynamics. ‘To achieve success and strengthen our position, we must offer the most modern user experience. The competitive advantage comes from the ability to learn faster than others, perceive changing customer behaviour, and act decisively,’ he said.
To determine the winners, the business magazine Euromoney reviews the data of more than 1,000 candidates each year and assesses banks’ financial results, growth figures, and development activities over the past 12 months. Euromoney has been awarding ‘Awards for Excellence’ recognitions to the best banks since 1992, and it is one of the most prestigious awards in the financial sector.
