Fans collected more than EUR 43,000 over a period of six months using the LHV Football Card

19. November 2020

The aid collected with the LHV Football Card will be disbursed in two instalments for the first time this year. While in the spring, EUR 36,003 was disbursed in support of Estonian football, then in the second half of the year, fans collected almost 22% more, i.e., EUR 43,763.

LHV’s Football Card is the official fan card of Estonian football, with which its owner can help generate support for his or her favourite club. For each purchase made with the Football Card, LHV will pay 10 cents to the card holder’s football club of choice.

‘This year has offered many challenges to everyone. It is pleasing to see that despite the situation that has struck the world, the football season in Estonia is coming to a successful end as a result of common efforts. A significant contribution to this has also been made by all active users of the LHV Football Card, of whom there are already over 4,500 in Estonia’, said Chairman of the Management Board of LHV Pank Erki Kilu.

While aid was previously disbursed at the end of the year, then this year, LHV decided to transfer the aid to clubs in two instalments: in May and November. While the amount of aid in spring for the period of November 2019 to April 2020 was EUR 36,003, then with the summer and autumn, football fans raised EUR 43,763, which makes the yearly total a record-repeating EUR 79,766.

‘During the spring, LHV made a quick and substantial change in the difficult situation caused by the coronavirus, deciding to pay support to clubs in two parts. If we think about the general image of banks, then this decision once again showed the uniqueness of LHV and its strong connection to Estonian society’, said the President of the Estonian Football Association Aivar Pohlak.

‘The Football Card project brings together entrepreneurship and community activity in a great way. This is a pillar that the growth of clubs can rely on’, he added.

The most support among Estonian clubs was gathered by Tartu JK Tammeka (EUR 3,277), Tallinna FC Flora (EUR 2,588), and Nõmme Kalju FC (EUR 1,890).

In addition to supporting your favourite club, the LHV Football Card is also of benefit to the card holder, since you can use it to obtain several discounts: always at least 10% off on tickets to home matches of the Estonian National Team and free entry to the home matches of Estonian youth national teams; discounts at Sportland and Baltman shops, MyFitness clubs, and on service at ABC Motors.

This year is the 10th year of cooperation between LHV and the Estonian Football Association. Last year, cooperation was extended for at least the next five years.
