The leading international business magazine Euromoney named LHV Pank the best bank in Estonia. The magazine unveiled the best banks in various countries and regions yesterday evening as part of its ‘Awards for Excellence 2025’ programme.
LHV was recognised for its strong financial results, rapid customer base growth and active new sales, which helped it to become the market leader in the home loans segment. Euromoney also highlighted the bank’s contribution to promoting sustainability and its technological innovations, which have significantly improved the customer experience.
‘Last year was a real breakthrough year for LHV. We grew our loan portfolio by 18% and exceeded the 456,000 client mark. The greatest progress was made in the home loans market – our free-of-notary-fees refinancing campaign broke the existing market barrier and brought over EUR 160 million worth of home loans to LHV. As a result, our market share of new home loans rose to nearly 25% and every fourth home loan in Estonia is issued through LHV,’ said Kadri Kiisel, Chairman of the Management Board of LHV Pank.
According to Kiisel, LHV’s strength lies in its customer-centric approach and the courage to innovate. ‘The Estonian people expect transparent and simple banking. Our role is to provide it – whether it’s cheaper financing for energy-efficient homes, micro-saving opportunities, or real-time notifications and biometric authentication. Every step we take must create added value for the client,’ she said.
LHV’s cooperation with the European Investment Fund (EIF) was highly praised by Euromoney, resulting in the financing of a large number of residential renovation projects and environmentally friendly initiatives. The popularity of the LHV Savings Account also significantly increased the savings habits of the Estonian population. It is already used by more than 32,000 people, who have raised more than EUR 100 million.
When awarding prizes, the business magazine Euromoney annually reviews the details of more than 1,000 candidates, comparing the banks’ financial results, growth numbers, and development activities over the last 12 months. Euromoney has been presenting its ‘Awards for Excellence’ to the best banks since 1992, with the award being the oldest and one of the most prestigious in the financial sector. This year, the best banks were selected in more than 100 countries. Information on the regional awards can be found at euromoney.com.
