Cyber Insurance

Cyber Insurance

It’s a joint solution by Telia and LHV. Telia provides the Shield and cyber support, and acts as the insurance agent for LHV Kindlustus, the insurer responsible for assessing claims and deciding on payouts.

Cyber Insurance is linked to Telia Home internet and Telia Shield, so it can be ordered through Telia. LHV is the insurer.

It also covers family members living permanently at the same address, your spouse or partner, children up to 21, and the policyholder’s parents. The exact scope is set out in the terms and conditions and on your certificate.

Yes, it does.

Purchases or sales between private individuals aren’t covered under the e-commerce fraud cover. The claim may be covered if you bought from a legitimate business or service provider, and the other conditions are met.

No. In the event of cyber extortion, the insurance may cover reasonable costs such as IT support, device cleaning, data recovery or resolving the incident, but never the ransom payment itself.

If several transactions originated from the same fraudulent message, phishing site or root cause, they’re generally treated as a single insured event. This affects both the limit and the excess.

Yes, this can still fall under the phishing cover. The claim needs to meet the conditions, the loss needs to be verifiable, and you’ll need to have taken reasonable steps to minimise the loss and preserve evidence.

In the event of financial loss, contact your bank, payment service provider or platform first. The insurance covers the loss to the extent it can’t be recovered from a third party, provided the conditions are met.

In many cybercrime cases, it’s important or even necessary to report the incident to the police, particularly for fraud, extortion or cyberbullying. The exact obligation depends on the specific case. Preserve the evidence and follow the instructions from Telia’s cyber support team and LHV’s claims handler.

Losses from identity theft generally aren’t covered. As an exception, direct financial loss resulting from phishing may be covered, to the extent set out in the terms and conditions.

No. The insurance only covers the insured events described in the terms and conditions, and is subject to the limits, excess, your obligations and the exclusions.
